The whole name of penta-hydroxytryptophan or 5-HTP is a substance that is produced as a byproduct of amino acid transformation of L-tryptophan in the body and prevents the formation of serotonin . It has been shown that as the years go by, the level of 5-HTP decreases. Thus there is less of the amount of serotonin in the body.
And the inadequate production of serotonin may be our weak psychological resistance and nervous lability. If family or work problems are added to this, mental anxiety and strong emotional strain are added together and everything is signed on our psyche. At present, scientists are investigating the therapeutic effect of 5-HTP on Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, or on attention deficit and hyperactivity in children - ADHD syndrome. If the results turned out well, there could be a new, more natural, medicine to treat these diseases of the nervous system in the future.
