The eighth annual global happenings wants to draw attention to the topic of climate change and to inspire greater environmental protection throughout the planet involving over 7000 cities, hundreds of millions of people and hundreds of monuments from 158 countries of the world. Among them, for example, Pyramids of Giza, Sydney Opera House, London's Tower Bridge and the tallest building in the world Burj Khalifa.
Throughout the Czech Republic held several smaller events, such as the screening of the documentary and discussion in Brno, lantern procession in Kozlov or composing the outline of candles Czech Republic in Prague. There was also no extinction of Zizkov tower disguised as small children Spiderman - Spiderman is the hero of this film symbolic Earth Hour.
"Symbolic extinction dominates the village, but in many places the entire lighting is for local residents a unique opportunity to realize how much we have tremendous energy the world has changed and that environmental damage is needed to stop," said Yvonne Gaillyová, Director of the Environmental Institute Veronica, co-organizer Earth Hour.
Earth Hour event was established in 2007 in Sydney, which is also the first annual immersed in darkness. In addition to the Sydney Opera House are the most famous monuments that turn off lights for an hour, like the Eiffel Tower or the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
The event Earth Hour WWF launched a global platform where people can choose a project or topic and support its solutions with your voice or a financial contribution.
"Earth Hour is one of the most visible events, which draws public attention to the urgency of climate protection.
