Known record holder Gerhard Plattner invited to test a low-power family of four Baumann from Berlin. The competitors had to drive the Octavia G-TEC of Germany's capital Berlin in Jesolo, an Italian city on the Adriatic coast, and yet consume the least gas.
Plattner controlled Octavia dark blue G-TEC finally achieved an average consumption of just 2.93 kg of natural gas per hundred kilometers. This corresponds to CO2 emissions of just 81 g / km. Fuel costs accounted for just € 35.71. Silver Octavia G-TEC families Baumann consumed an average of 3.6 kg of natural gas per 100 km.
"This result shows how cheap and ecologically can ride Octavia G-TEC," says board member Dr. Frank Welsch. "CNG technology combines mobility with pure driving pleasure and low operating costs," adds Dr. Welsch.
Both Octavia G-TEC had a total weight of 1.700 kg. As Gerhard Plattner drove himself, his car was not equipped with a water container of the corresponding weight. The path led mainly on highways. The prescribed minimum speed was 80 km / h. Track length of 1.172 km traveled by both participants during the 8 to 10 July 2014 in three stages over about 400 km. During the breaks, it was also possible to add natural gas reserves.
"Around the reigns of natural gas still some uncertainty. It is not necessary. Mobility with low consumption today does not mean that I have to give something up. Customers have long not have to choose between friendly technology and comfort, "says Gerhard Plattner." Octavia G-TEC is a perfect example. The car offers low power consumption and at the same time and all the comforts of a comparable vehicle, driven by conventional fuels, "says Plattner.
