The singer and pianist Diana Krall will come to Brno for the first time. In the JazzFestBrno Festival, September 20th, DRFG Arena will present its new album, Turn Up The Quiet, released a few days ago.
With Turn Up The Quiet, Canadian artists return to their roots and songs from the so-called Great American Songbook. "For a long time, I wanted to do these songs on my own. The company of my best music friends allowed me to tell these stories as I intended. Sometimes it's enough to "increase the silence" to hear a little better, " Krall refers to the title of the album.
Turn Up The Quiet really brings the perfect backdrop for a quiet evening with a glass of good wine. On the album you will find eleven jazz standards in which the first piano plays. The songs include favorite themes of love and hope. The captivating singer's voice creates the impression of intimate space. It is the skill of inspiring the atmosphere of a small jazz club where the cloud of smoke is floating, Krall is famous. Many times she did it both in large halls and on recordings themselves.
And the Turn Up The Quiet album proves that it does not lose anything, or vice versa. The novel may not be as breakthrough as a singer's debut released more than twenty years ago, but it offers a strong production and mature sophistication of emerging musical art. Producer of the album is a multiple Grammy winner Tommy LiPuma, who died just a few weeks before the release.
