A few days ago, eight new cars passed through rigorous testing. The car has passed the trials of adult and pedestrian protection, examining the protection of vulnerable road users and testing active safety features. The Audi Q3, the BMW X5, the Hyundai, the Jaguar I-Pace, the Peugeot 508 and the Volvo V60 were awarded a maximum rating of five stars. Instead, no star got a cheaper model of the lower class Fiat Panda. One Jeep Wrangler for safety
"Contemporary cars can handle the classic impact tests in the vast majority of cases without major problems. But Panda did not manage it. In frontal collision, the passenger in the rear seat of the Pandas does not have a well-protected chest, with a crash spine in the rear impact. The results of child protection are absolutely scandalous. Both the front and side impacts were given the worst possible signs for protecting the head of younger and older children. In both cases, the risk of serious head and neck injuries was assessed as high, "says Hana Hoffmann, editor-in-chief of dTest.
Fiat has repeated the leap of last year when the Euro NCAP was not able to beat Punto. In addition, the Pandas hurt that the manufacturer was saving on active security systems, which penalized the overall rating.
Just one star has taken off the robust off-road Jeep Wrangler, which at first glance evokes a sense of security. Compared to Pandou, however, he only hit the hair better and gained one star. The reason was a few elements of active safety, insufficient protection of rear chest and predominantly worse pedestrian protection. An unpleasant surprise was the difficulty of installing some universal car seats.
The dTest consumer organization is a member of the Euro NCAP initiative that organizes automobile safety tests in Europe. The results of hundreds of tested cars will be found free of charge by consumers in a publicly accessible database at www.dtest.cz/crashtesty . Euro NCAP has tested the safety of new cars for 21 years and is more stringent than homologation tests. "Motorists need reliable and accurate information on the safety of individual cars. The main goal of the Euro NCAP program is to motivate concerts to produce safer and better equipped cars, "explains Hana Hoffmann's testing sense.
