"It was amazing in America that the film was more than twenty years old, reminding them of Wes Anderson's current work," said director Jan Svěrák, who personally portrayed the film.
Film Accumulator 1 at the Czech That Film festival selected Czech Centers as part of the 100th anniversary celebrations of Czechoslovakia. "Accumulator 1 is one of the few post-revolutionary films that has coped with strong international competition in terms of both technical and narrative. We are delighted to have contributed to the remastering, " says Svěrák's curator Eva Přibylová from the Czech Centers, which organizes the show. Digitally remastered Battery 1 will be released this year in a limited edition on Blu-ray, it will be seen by Czech TV viewers, who will show the HD quality, and in the summer also viewers of selected Czech cinemas.
"Without the support of the Czech Centers and Czech Television partners, costly digitization of the film would not have been possible," Svěrák comments, with the fact that hundreds of times the cost of the film's image and sound facelift is borne by the producer himself, which is why only a small number of Czech and Czechoslovak films .
Accumulator 1 won 24 years ago the Czech Lion for editing and the most successful film. In the eight other categories (directing, lead actor, supporting actor, camera, expedition, music, sound, screenplay, audience) was nominated for this award.
The currently running Czech That Film features 45 screenings across the United States. This year's event takes place in other major US and Canadian cities (San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Austin, Washington, Denver, Dallas, Atlanta, New York, Little Rock, Portland, Minneapolis, Chicago, Seattle, Toronto).
