Body devastation
Smoking increases the risk of stroke, heart attack, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and, last but not least, oncological diseases. At the same time, it accelerates the aging of the organism - life reduces on average about 10 years. Burning cigarettes release harmful gases such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide. Cigarette smoke also contains a fine suspension of solid particles or tar from which most of the carcinogens contained in cigarettes come from.
The worst mechanism?
It is certain that e-cigarettes are more gentle to our organism than traditional ones. Their main advantage is that smoking does not produce tar or toxic gases. The electronic cigarette contains a liquid reservoir consisting of nicotine and flavor - both dissolved in glycerol and propylene glycol. This fluid is heated by a vaporizer during smoking and converted into smoke-like steam. Then the user inhales. E-cigarettes are especially popular with smokers trying to stop their bad habits. The data speaks vaguely, but recent research shows that e-cigarettes can really help quit smoking. Probably because of the positive effect on smokers' psyche.
Nicotine is still a threat
And now the worse news. The composition of the smoke eaten by e-cigarette consumers is not entirely clear. In the test, some harmful gases have also been discovered in very small quantities. However, it is certain that the nicotine contained in these products can have a negative impact on human health.
Permanent nicotine intake can lead to insulin resistance and the development of type 2 diabetes.
His inhalation increases the heart rate and blood pressure.
Nicotine is highly addictive and can lead to changes in the brain and increase the risk of developing addiction to other drugs, especially among young people.
Nicotine contained in the e-cigarette fluid can be dangerous even for children. Many of these fluids have fruity and confectionery flavors, making them attractive for small inquisitors. However, children may become poisoned by the flu - such cases have already been described.
Question marks remain
Flavors carry other risks. They often contain a chemical called diacetyl. This is associated with a rare lung disease that causes permanent damage to bronchiols (the bronchi with the smallest diameter). Flavors can also make the mistaken impression that e-cigarette smoking is harmless and there is no dependence on it. Propylene glycol and glycerol, the main components of the e-cigarette fluid, are not as such dangerous. However, if they are heated by a vaporizer, the formaldehyde can be decomposed and converted into the toxic substance.
E-cigarettes can not be recommended or talked about as a "healthy option" of smoking. But they can help people who have trouble consuming regular cigarettes. At the same time, their use reduces the risk of passive smoking, which reduces the threat to people around smokers.
